Ira Delano Curtis

Ira Delano Curtis, age 70, of Gamaliel, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at the Monroe County Medical Center. He was born on January 10, 1951, the son of the late Louie A. and Susan Erline (Bartley) Curtis. He was united in marriage in 1992 to Mary Kathleen (Murley) Curtis who preceded him in death on January 9, 1999. Ira was a graduate of Gamaliel High School Class of 1969, proudly served in the United States Army, Ira worked at Kentucky Apparel and enjoyed building primitive furniture, and always made time to watch the UK Wildcats.

He is survived by three daughters, Penny Dismon of Tompkinsville, Debbie Copas (Randy), and Karen Turner (Eddie Brandon) both of Gamaliel; two brothers, Darrell Curtis of Gamaliel and Doug Curtis of Tompkinsville; seven grandchildren, Cody Copas, Samantha Ann Isenberg, P.J. Turner, Amy Ferraro, J.C. Miller, Heather Barbee, and Dustin Miller; several great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ivis Dean Curtis, Dale Curtis, and David Curtis.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 31 at 1:00 p.m. at Bartley and Sons Gamaliel Chapel with burial in the Fountain Run Cemetery. Bro. Gary Emberton will officiate the service.
Visitation will begin on Friday, July 30, 2021, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm at Bartley and Sons Gamaliel Chapel and will continue on Saturday morning after 9:00 am.
