Willis Cordell Deckard, age 74, of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee. He was born on April 3, 1948, the son of the late Millard Ray and Locie May (Eakle) Deckard. He attended the Clementsville Church of Christ. Willis was a lifelong farmer, who loved nature, his dogs, collecting license plates, reading, cows, and chickens, and visiting friends and neighbors.
He is survived by two nieces, Juanita Gail Knight and husband Danny of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, and Jennifer Cynthia Pippin of Sparta, Tennessee; one nephew, Jerry Lynn Armour and wife Nona of Pleasant Shade, Tennessee; his dogs, Beaver, Lamb Chop, Destiny, Diesel, and Tipsy; one Aunt, Iree Francis; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Vina Bernice White, and Shelva Jean Deckard; a special friend, Francis Stafford.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel with burial at the Gamaliel Cemetery. Greg Houchens will officiate the service. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm and Saturday morning after 9:00 am until the time for the service at 2:00 pm.
Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to BRAWA or St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital in memory of Mr. Deckard and can be made at the funeral home.
