Obituary Willie Royce Gettings, age 82, of Tompkinsville, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville. He was born August 21, 1931 in Monroe County, KY to the late Radford Gettings and Kate Biggerstaff Gettings. He was a retired Ag Teacher for the Monroe County Board of Education, a member of Lyons Chapel Church of Christ, KY Retired Teachers Association and The American Legion Post 122 where he served as adjutant general and he was a Veteran of the US Air Force. He was united in marriage on October 4, 1958 to Dean Emmert. He is survived by his wife: Dean Emmert Gettings of Tompkinsville and one son: Tommy Gettings of Taylorville, IL. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son: Timmy Gettings and a sister: Eloise Gettings Gower. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 14 at 2:00 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Visitation will be after 3:00 PM on Tuesday and after 7:30 AM on Wednesday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
