William Harlan "Billy" Carder

Mr. William H. “Billy” Carder, age 80, of Gamaliel, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Billy was born in Monroe County, Kentucky on March 10, 1941, son of the late, Morris and Mary Lucille (Grider) Carder. He graduated from Gamaliel High School in 1959, he then went on to WKU and earned his Bachelors of Science. He retired from AFLAC, where he served as the District Manager. On August 20, 1961, he married Martha R. “Kitty” Cook. He was a Deacon of Gamaliel Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the NRA, member of; The Gamaliel Lions Club, The Gamaliel Sportsmen Club, Central States Archeological Society, and Green River Archeological Society.

William is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha “Kitty (Cook) Carder; one daughter, Susan Leanna Allen and husband Keith of Lafayette, Tennessee; one son, William H. “Little Bill” Carder of Gamaliel; one sister, Sue Ann (Carder) Page and husband Bobby of Pineville, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Luci McKena Allen, Kade Carder Allen, and Callie Marie Carder; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday morning after 8 until time for services at 11:00. The burial will be in Gamaliel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gamaliel Baptist Church in honor of Mr. Carder.

Pallbearers will be Joe Murphy, Murrell Collins, Kerry Stinson, Jeff Geralds, Shannon Walker, Brandon Vetter, Billy Michael Stinson and Anthony Holcomb.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Rowland, Bob Greer, Jerry Capshaw, Jimmie Craig, Travis Warren, Mike Pitcock, Joey Ford, Bobby Joe Comer, Kirk Eakle, Tim Heilman, Wendell Nixon, Scott Davis, and Gary McCarty.

Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Carder.
