Obituary
Velva Gay Oliver Pennington, 82, of Tompkinsville, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Monroe Health & Rehab in Tompkinsville. She was born July 28, 1932 in Monroe County, KY to the late Earlie Oliver and Annie Pearl Payne Oliver. She was a retired cook for Monroe Health & Rehab and a member of Rock Valley Church of Christ. She was united in marriage on December 22, 1951 to Kenneth Pennington who preceded her in death on December 27, 2008. She is survived by one son: Kenny Pennington, two daughters: Betty Scott and husband Danny and Carolyn Turner and husband Kenny all of Tompkinsville,one brother: Ray Oliver of Hestand, eight grandchildren: Casey Wright, Justin Crowe, Chad Pennington, Austin Pennington, Kenna Pennington, Carter Pennington, Kelsey Turner and Alexis Vinson and five great grandchildren: Chastin Wright, Kenlee Wright, Conley Crowe, Ruthie Crowe and Caley Hignite. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother: Wendell Oliver and one grandchild: Joshua Scott. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 22 at 2:00 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Visitation will be after 2:00 PM on Tuesday and after 7:30 AM on Wednesday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
