Obituary
Murrell Terry Thompson, age 75 of The Hestand Community of Monroe County, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. He was born in Hestand, Kentucky on October 6, 1945, a son of the late Walter B. and Zora Mae (Jackson) Thompson. Terry was united in marriage to Sandra Ann Burks on October 26, 1968. Terry was a graduate of Tompkinsville High School in 1963, Proudly served in the United States Army and retired from General Electric before moving back to Tompkinsville. He was a member of the American Legion Post, and enjoyed farming after his retirement.
Terry is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Sandra Ann (Burks) Thompson; one daughter Lily Thompson (Curt Harden) of Central, South Carolina; one brother, David Thompson and wife June of Gallatin, Tennessee; one sister, Pamela Garmon (James Johnson) of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, two brothers in law; Darin Burks of Glasgow, and Doug Burks and his wife Sandy of Tompkinsville, two sisters in law Paula Hall and husband Scotty of Red Boiling Springs, and Brenda Burks of Tompkinsville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Steve Thompson, three sisters; Fannie Marie Thompson, Linda Lou Thompson, and Virginia Peggy Cleary, two brothers in law; Ricky Burks and Terry Burks.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from the Chapel of Anderson-Bartley Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in The Bailey Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by DAV Chapter 20 out of Glasgow.
Visitation will begin on Monday, December 14 after 5:00 p.m., and continue on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time for services at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made in the form of donations to The Bailey Cemetery, they may be made at the funeral home or mailed to 204 Columbia Avenue Tompkinsville, KY 42167.
For the protection of Mr. Thompson’s family, it is required that anyone attending visitations of the service to wear facial coverings and practice social distancing guidelines due to Covid-19.
