Shirley Jean Young

Shirley Jean Young, age 75, of Tompkinsville, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on May 29, 1946, the daughter of the late Reed and Ruby (Guffey) Rich. She was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. Shirley loved people and was a social butterfly.

She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Jimmy Curtis Young; one son, Michael Shaw and wife Kim; four step-sons, Michael Young, Jeff Young and wife Vanessa, Jeff, Timmy, and Greg McCandless; three step-daughters, Lisa Gunner, Rita McCandless, and Debbie Simmons; two sisters, Kathleen Goad and Barbara Cary; one granddaughter, Shannon Bragg and husband Mike; two grandsons, Shane Henson and Jaime Shaw; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a spouse, Wallace McCandless; one daughter, Tammy Graham; two brothers-in-law, Terry Goad and James Cary; several aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home with burial in the Memorial Lawn and Garden. Bro. Tim Eaton will officiate the service.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and will continue Thursday morning after 8:00 am until time for the service.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to the Beech Grove Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Shirley Young, and these may be made at the funeral home.
