Sherry Cloyd Poynter

Mrs. Sherry Cloyd Poynter, age 68, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024 at TriStar Centennial Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Sherry was born in Tompkinsville on January 24, 1956 a daughter of the late David and Ina (Murphy) Cloyd. She was a 1973 Graduate of Tompkinsville High School, and retired from Van Guard Medical in Glasgow. Sherry loved cooking, shopping, playing Bunco, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Sulphur Ridge Church of Christ.

She is survived by one sister, Arlene Downing, of Tompkinsville, one brother, Hollis Cloyd and wife Danetta of Hampshire, Tennessee, one sister-in-law, Faye Cloyd along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Dale Poynter, five brothers; Edsel, James, Tommy, Reggie and Clifford “Poodle” Cloyd, and two sisters, Maggie Hammer and husband Clyde, and Adene Daniel and husband Leon.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Loy Milam and Billy Joe Williams will officiate the services.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and again on Thursday morning after 7:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Center Point Cemetery or to Leukemia Association in memory of Sherry.

Pallbearers: Trent Logan Hurt, Kevin Cloyd, David Cloyd, Matthew Cloyd, Bryson James, Tommy Mitchell, Jonathan Daniel, Kade Thomas, Bobby Blair, and Bradley Emmert.
