Rondal B. Carter

Mr. Rondal B. Carter, age 82, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023, surrounded by family at The Monroe County Medical Center.  Rondal was born in the Hickory Ridge Community of Monroe County, on June 26, 1940, the son of the late Otis Lee and Lizzie Lee (Graves) Carter.  He married Sue Butler on June 29, 1959, he retired from Monroe County Schools after serving as a Custodian for twenty-one years. Rondal enjoyed farming, mowing yards, and visiting and talking with friends, he never met a stranger and that big grin of his will definitely be missed.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Sue (Butler) Carter, one son, Shawn Carter, and his wife Amanda, and one daughter-in-law, Linda Brown Carter. A grandson, Justin Carter, and his wife Lauren, a granddaughter, Emma Kate Carter, and one great-granddaughter, Conlee Carter also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Dee Carter, and one son, Ronnie Paul Carter.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in Hickory Ridge Cemetery. Shane McPherson will officiate the services.  

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday morning after 6:30 until time for services at 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rondal may be made to Hickory Ridge Cemetery or to Monroe County Backpack Program.
