Obituary
Raymond Edward Hammer, 93, of Tompkinsville, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. He was born November 22, 1921 in Monroe County, KY, to the late Herman Hammer and Nevada Sims Hammer. He was a retired electrician, a member of Tompkinsville First Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and a WWII Army Veteran. He was united in marriage on November 26, 1944 to Arla Bessie Carlock. He is survived by his wife: Arla Bessie Carlock Hammer, two sons: William Duane Hammer and wife Dana, Brian Christopher Hammer and wife Kellie all of Tompkinsville, one daughter: Paula Hurley of Kirkland, Iowa, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Omer and Frank Hammer and one sister: Ella Mae Hammer and several half brothers and sisters. Due to inclement weather, Funeral services have been rescheduled and will be conductedFriday, March 6 at 1:00 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in the Mill Creek Cemetery. Dr. Tom Stokes and Dr. Jack Rinks officiating. Pallbearers are: Daniel Hammer, Ty Hammer, Drew Hammer, Karl Mangrum, Dr. Kenneth Crabtree, Larry Turner, Lauren Hammer, Julia Blunt and Carmen Grooms, honorary pallbearers are: Deacons of Tompkinsville First Baptist Church and Dr. Kenneth Crabtree's Sunday School Class. Visitation will be after 4:00 PM on Wednesday and after 7:30 AM on Thursday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
