Nella Mae (Propes) Stewart

Mrs. Nella Mae (Propes) Stewart, age 88, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Monroe County Medical Center. Nella was born in Metcalfe County on February 16, 1937, a daughter of the late Albert Denton and Martha Cordelia (Fransler) Propes. On September 11, 1954, she was united in marriage to Frank Stewart that lasted sixty years until his death on November 1, 2014. Nella was a garment factory worker for years, and a member of Oak Hill Church of Christ. Nella loved being with her family and playing bingo. 

Nella is survived by one son, Steve Stewart of Glasgow, and three daughters, Judy Mikolajczyk and husband Don of Glasgow, Sherry Lane and husband Jerry, and Vickie Smith and husband Timmy, both of Tompkinsville. Ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren also survive. She is also survived by two sisters, Becky Rhoton of Tompkinsville, and Patty Adams of Bowling Green, and one brother Jack Propes of Coatesville, Indiana. 

In addition to her husband, and parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Spear and Shirley Vibert, four brothers, Michael, Boyd, Mac, and Danny Ray Propes, and one grandchild, Brittany Stewart. 

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Jason Page will officiate the service. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 8:00 until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
