Muriel H. Grider, age 91, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky. She was born on August 29, 1930, the daughter of the late William Nelson and Honor (Rasner) Hume. Muriel graduated from Tompkinsville High School in 1951. She married Robert Lester Grider on November 10, 1951. She was a Christian from a young age. Muriel worked as a concierge at Anderson Forest Products, served as a funeral assistant here for years, she was well known as a seamstress and homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Greer and husband Jerry of Huntsville, Alabama; three grandchildren, Eliza (Davis) Bortz and husband Sean of Old Hickory, Tennessee, Nathan Davis and wife Amber of Lexington, Kentucky and Alana Greer and her husband, Taiji Tsukidate of Tokyo, Japan; one great-grandson, Kaito Greer Tsukidate; two brothers, Rudolph Hume and wife Effi of Tompkinsville and Mark Hume and wife Kathy of Lexington; one sister, Naomi Guffey of Tompkinsville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lester Grider; two daughters, Bobbie Kay Grider and Mary Joyce (Grider) Davis; four brothers, Ishmael Hume, Eugene Hume, Morris Hume, and Benny Hume; one sister, Virginia Deckard; one grandson, Seth Davis.
All services will be held privately on Sunday at Bartley and Sons Funeral Home. Bro. Gary Emberton will officiate the service and burial will follow in the Skaggs Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Skaggs Creek Cemetery in honor of Mrs. Grider, those may be made at the funeral home.
