Maxey Fay Birge

Maxey Fay Birge, age 88, of Tompkinsville passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at his home. He was born on December 13, 1932, the son of the late Albert Pearl and Maggie (Wisdom) Birge. Maxey was united in marriage to Christene Turner on December 22, 1956. He was a member and Deacon of Old Tompkinsville Baptist Church. He retired from the Tompkinsville Motor Company in 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Christene (Turner) Birge; one son-in-law, Jim Finley of Burkesville; two grandchildren, Kalee Mullican and husband Paul and Trey Finley and wife Lindsay both of Smithville, Tennessee; one great-grandchild, Ember Jo Finley; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Turner and wife Margie and Glendell Turner and wife Elizabeth both of Tompkinsville; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Jennings of Tompkinsville and Dean Story and husband Mike of Nashville, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Faye Finley; two brothers, Tommy and Nello Birge; three sisters, Imo Tinsley, Shelby Jean Rush and June Altadonia.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, March 12, 2021, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home with burial in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Bro. Tim Britt and Bro. Jim Finley will officiate the service. Visitation will be Thursday, March 11, 2021, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday morning after 8:00 AM until time for the service.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to the Old Tompkinsville Baptist Church in the memory of Mr. Birge and these can be made at the funeral home or mailed to Bartley & Sons Funeral Home.
