Mrs. Mary Lougene (Bacon) Richardson, age 84, of the Hestand Community passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Signature Healthcare of Monroe. She was born on September 13, 1937 a daughter of the late Raymond and Nell (Kingrey) Bacon.
She married L.R. Tutor Richardson on January 11, 1958 in Celina, Tennessee. They were happily married for fifty-five years unitl he passed away on November 5, 2013. Lougene was a homemaker who thrived on making her home a happy place, no one could ever enter her home without feeling welcomed or being asked to sit down to a big, home-cooked meal. Her cooking was something that she was proud to be known for, and no one ever left hungry. Her home was where everyone always wanted to be. If you were to ask her what her greatest accomplishment in life was, she would tell you that they call her “Granny,’’ her grandchildren were the light in her eyes. She spent years babysitting them, and often time talked about it being the best years of her life. She also loved sewing and working outside in her flower gardens, she enjoyed front porch sitting and visiting with others. She was a member of Germany Church of Christ, and The Sunshine Homemakers.
She is survived by one son Neal Richardson and his wife Tammy of Hestand, and one daughter; Regena Lyons and her husband Kevin of Tompkinsville. Four grandchildren; Andrea, and Robert Richardson, and Logan and Mary Madison Lyons, one great-grandchild, Adrian Willis, two sisters; Betty Grider of Columbus, Indiana and Wanda Smith of Beaumont, Kentucky, several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; L.R. Tutor Richardson, and one sister; Mae Tooley.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lougene will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021 from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday morning after 8:00 a.m. until time for services at 1:00.
Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to Monroe County Backpack Program in memory of Mrs. Lougene, those donations may be made at the Funeral Home.
