Louise Wood Dyer

Mrs. Louise (Wood) Dyer, age 93, of Tompkinsville, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Monroe County Medical Center. Louise was born in The Harlan’s Crossroads Community on February 13, 1931, to the late Claude and Eliza “Turner” Hale Wood. She was a faithful member of Beautiful Home Missionary Baptist Church. Louise loved traveling, going on cruises, listening to gospel music, and was a social butterfly who never met a stranger.

She is survived by her son Kerry Shawn Dyer and wife Donna of Gamaliel, two daughters; Gretta Dyer Ramsey and husband Tommy of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, and Beverly Dyer Luxton and husband Don of Decatur, Texas. Nine grandchildren; Angie Ramsey, Casey Phelps and husband Brandon, Lindsey Wood and husband Blake, Tara Ballard, Eric Luxton and wife Sarah, Kyle Dyer, Kaia Dyer, Kaiden Dyer, and Connor Dyer. Nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leland Arnold Dyer, one brother, Commodore Wood, Seven sisters; Genoa Gammon, Alesa Maxey, Clio Rush, Margaret Conkin, Reba Bowman, Creola Grinestaff, and Dean McPherson, and a great-granddaughter McKenzie Dyer.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home with interment to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Bro. Donald Taylor will officiate the service.

Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Wednesday morning from 7:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Louise. Those may be made at the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Eric Luxton, Kyle Dyer, Kaiden Dyer, Chance Phelps, Brett Crowe, and Brett Conkin.
