Lonnie Eugene Cleary

Mr. Lonnie Eugene Cleary, age 73, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 23, 2025, at his home. Lonnie was born on December 23, 1951, in Tompkinsville, a son of the late Harvie Eugene “Gene” Cleary and Beatris Monday Cleary, who survives. He moved to Indiana as a baby and was the oldest of 5 children, Randy, Sandra, Diana, and Gene Allen. He graduated from Tech High School in Indianapolis and was accepted to Heron Art School. He joined the Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked mainly in construction and concrete throughout his life. He believed that anything worth doing was worth doing right. He had a kind honest heart. He enjoyed a great many things in life. He loved animals, nature, art, and music, from cave exploring to arrowhead hunting, science fiction movies, and TV shows.

He is survived by his mother Beatris (Monday) Cleary, one sister Sandra Schwartz, one brother Gene Allen Cleary, his first wife Barbara Roberts, their son Kevin Cleary, and daughter Misti (Cleary) Terwilliger and husband Tom, with grandchildren Dakota, Lauren, Madi, Kristen, and Cain. Five great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Everett, Astrid, Norah and Sage. His second wife Connie Cleary, two daughters; Tara Cleary and Moriah (Cleary) Box and husband Nick, with grandchildren Jade, Nikolai, Nikita, and feline Fred the 2nd.

In addition to his father; he was preceded in death by one brother, Randy Cleary, one sister Diana (Cleary) Fisbeck, and one great-granddaughter Lyla.

Cremation was chosen by the family, with a memorial service to be held at a later date.

Lonnie is onto his next adventure. There is not enough room to do his seventy-three years of life justice. He will be dearly missed. Beam me up Scotty.

Bartley & Sons Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Cleary and his family at this time.
