Jean McPherson Bartley

Mrs. Lenora Jean (McPherson) Bartley, passed away peacefully on her ninety-fifth birthday at home, surrounded by her family. Jean was born in Monroe County on July 15, 1929, a daughter of the late Brents and Enna (Pedigo) McPherson. She married Fred Bartley on March 4, 1946, and they made their home in the Persimmon Community of Monroe County. Jean was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, quilting, and spending time with her family. She was a devout member of Pleasant Hill Church of Christ.

She is survived by four sons, Bobby Bartley, Billy Bartley and wife Betty, Benny Bartley and wife Karen, and Byron Bartley and wife Teresa, two daughters, Faye Hurt and Gay Hammer, all of Tompkinsville, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, eleven step-great-grandchildren, one sister, Jeanette Harlan, two sisters in law, Doris McPherson, Wiladean McPherson, along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, and husband of sixty-one years, Fred Bartley, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Loretta Bryant, one son, Ricky B. Bartley, three sons-in-law, LaVonne Bryant, Larry Hurt, and Wayne Hammer, one daughter-in-law, Paulette Bartley, two brothers, Wallace and Jackie McPherson, two sisters, Nell High, and Ruth St. Amant, and two brothers in law, Dave High and Eugene Harlan.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Jason Page will officiate the services.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and continue on Thursday morning after 7:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Hill Church of Christ in memory of Mrs. Jean.
