Joyce Smith

Mrs. Joyce Smith, age 69, of the Bugtussle Community, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.  Joyce was born in Tompkinsville on February 20, 1955 the daughter of the late Dessie Goodnight Creek and Rachel Ann (Wheeler) Creek. She was an Instructional Assistant for Monroe County Schools, and retired from Tompkinsville Elementary in 2020. Joyce was a devout member of New Liberty General Baptist Church, she enjoyed quilting, crafting and puzzle work.  

She is survived by her mother, Rachel Ann (Wheeler) Creek, her husband of forty-six years, Danny Lowe Smith, one son, Spenser Smith and wife Colee all of Bugtussle.  Two granddaughters, Saeger and Dallee Smith, along with several cousins also survive. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Dessie Goodnight Creek.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at New Liberty General Baptist Church, with Brothers Jeremy Yokley and Kenny Sullivan officiating.  Interment will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday at New Liberty General Baptist Church after 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
