Jimmy Ray Gerald

Mr. Jimmy Ray Gerald, age 74, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at his home. Jimmy Ray was born in Metcalfe County on October 1, 1949, a son of the late Charles Ray and Mary Inez (Garmon) Gerald. Jimmy Ray owned and operated his Farm Equipment Sales for several years in Monroe County. When he wasn’t working on equipment, Jimmy Ray enjoyed fishing and hunting. 

He is survived by his wife, Nell Honeycutt Gerald, close family, Dougie Read and wife Shannon, Jeff Cornelius and wife Amanda, Jennifer Murphy and husband Randy. Two sisters-in-law, Helen Gerald and Debra Gerald, and grandchildren, Nick Read (Nicole,) Daniel Read (Alyshia,) Brittany Grant, Khloe and Kela Cornelius, and his faithful dog Feisty also survive. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jackie and Alvis Gerald, and one sister, Janice Spence.

Funeral Services for Jimmy Ray will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Tony High and Justin Crowe will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Thursday morning from 7:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Kosair Charities, or to Hosparus of Barren River.
