Obituary Jessie Pearl Comer Jackson, 103, of Gamaliel, passed away Wednesday, December 16 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.She was born September 26, 1912 in Gamaliel, KY to the late Jefferson Jesse Comer and Lizzie Maud Marrs Comer. She was a retired teacher, having taught in the Monroe County School system for 39 ½ years, a member of Monroe County Retired Teachers, inductee to the Kentucky Teachers Hall of Fame, Charter Member of Gamaliel Homemakers, a Charter Member of Gamaliel United Methodist Church. She was united in marriage on April 28, 1933 to Basil Glen Jackson who preceded her in death on August 30, 1998.She is survived by her daughter: Judy Jackson Downing of Gamaliel, three grandchildren: Lisa Downing Murley and husband Tim of Bowling Green, Lori Downing Murphy and husband Joe of Gamaliel, Jack Reed Downing of Bowling Green, five great-grandchildren: Brady Murley and wife Lacey, Joe Murley, Megan Murphy Roper and husband Josh, Billy Joe Murphy and wife Chelsey, Ty Jackson Downing, three great-great-grandchildren: Riley Elizabeth Roper, Reese Caroline Roper and Cash Holland Murphy.In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister: Mary Comer Lane, six brothers: Robert Thurman Comer, William Marrs Comer, Earl Payne Comer, Frank Carlton Comer, Herman Jefferson Comer and James Harlin Comer.Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 18 at 2:30 PM at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel with burial to follow in the Gamaliel Cemetery.Visitation will be after 4:30 PM on Thursday and after 7:30 AM on Friday at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel.Memorials are suggested to the Gamaliel United Methodist Church.
