Herold Wayne Wilson

Mr. Herold Wilson, age 83, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Monroe County Medical Center.  Herold was born on December 21, 1939, a son of the late Hoover and Irene (Propes) Wilson.  He proudly served in The Army National Guard, and was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Bluegrass Contractors. He married Glenda Sue Matthews in St. Charles Illinois on March 4, 1961.  Herold was the life of the party, and had a personality as big as his grin.  He enjoyed, fishing, golfing, and bus tours, seeing the country.  He was a member of Mt. Gilead Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Glenda Sue (Matthews) Wilson, of Tompkinsville, three daughters; Diane Harlan and husband Bobby, Donna Murray and husband Dwayne, both of Tompkinsville, and Paula Smith and husband Scott, of Alvaton, Kentucky.  One brother, Bobbie Wilson, of Tompkinsville, and one sister, Bonnie Rich and husband Lenneth, of Glasgow along with five grandchildren; Tara Harlan and fiancé Michael Miller, Ariel Perry and husband Kanin, Kayla Wesolowski and husband Michael, Matt Smith and wife Kathryn, and Jessica Bailey and husband Clint, and one great-grandchild, Rowan with two on the way.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rachel Glass, and Rebecca Wilson, a sister-in-law, Jeanetta Wilson, and one brother-in-law, Joe Glass.  

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1,2023 at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Tim McHenry and Jason Page will officiate the

The family will receive visitors on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
