Henry Ray Watson

Obituary Henry Ray Watson, 88, of Gamaliel, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville. He was born April 13, 1926 in Clay County, TN to the late Elbert Watson and Rosa Painter Watson. He was a retired merchant and farmer, a member of Clementsville Church of Christ, a WWII Army Veteran and a Kentucky Colonel. He was united in marriage on October 4, 1947 to Mary Bobbie Dugan Watson in Roseville, GA, who preceded him in death on April 26, 2013. He is survived by two sons: Jackie Ray Watson of Gamaliel, Richard Watson of Pikeville, KY, one daughter: Debbie Elrod and husband Mike of Gamaliel,3 grandchildren: Bethany Watson Prewitt and husband Jason, Brooke Watson and Tanner Elrod, 2 great grandchildren: Connor and Makenna Prewitt. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother: A.C. (Jack)Watson and one sister: Willadean Lancaster. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 21 at 1:00 PM at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel with burial to follow in the Gamaliel Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 4:00 PM on Tuesday and after 7:30 AM on Wednesday at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel.
