Hearl Randall Baskett, age 86, of Gamaliel, Kentucky died Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at his home. He was born in Tompkinsville on February 7, 1935, son of the late Hearl and Lucy Baskett. Randall graduated from Tompkinsville High School in 1954. He proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Havre, Montana where he met his late wife, Minta. Randall was an active member and deacon at Gamaliel Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of Dalelan Farm Supply in Gamaliel for over 25 years and a lifelong dairy farmer. He was involved with many civic and community organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bean Baskett; one sister, Glaydell Baskett Hammer of Tompkinsville; three children, Diana Baskett Bowles, and husband Larry of Mount Hermon, Kimberlin Kay Baskett of Gamaliel and Steven Dale Baskett and wife Kim Chism Baskett of Mount Hermon; two step-daughters, Debbie Crowe, and husband Eddie of Gamaliel, and Jo Ann Brown, and husband Ricky of Tompkinsville; 7 grandchildren, Cindy Bowles Peden and husband Casey, Codey Baskett, Jennie Hatcher, Matt Bowles, Dustin Basket and wife Valarie, Jamie Hatcher, and Lukas Hatcher; 10 great-grandchildren, and several step grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Minta Converse Baskett; a son, Rick Baskett; two grandchildren, Josh Randall Hatcher and Candace Bowles.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, April 30, 2021, at Jane Yokley Cemetery with burial to follow. Bro. Danny Pace will officiate the service.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 29, 2021, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Gamaliel Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Alonzo Ford, Jerry Capshaw, Mike Pitcock, Jimmy Craig, Richard Turner and Bob Greer.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joey Ford, Billie Carder, Billie Rowland, Travis Warren, Jerry Ford, Larry Bowles, Codey Baskett, Matt Bowles, Dustin Baskett, Lukas Hatcher, J.J Jones, Jervon Jones and Ken Holbrook.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Mr. Baskett’s caregivers throughout the years and to Hosparus of Barren River.
Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to Jane Yokley Cemetery, Gamaliel Baptist Church or Gamaliel Fire Department in memory of Mr. Baskett.
For the protection of Mr. Baskett’s family, it is kindly asked for everyone coming to the service to abide by Governor Beshear’s recommendation of wearing a mask and practice social distancing.
