H B Cornwell

Obituary H B Cornwell, 85, of Monroe County, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was born on February 12, 1935, the son of the late Kelly and Bessie Frances (Goad) Cornwell. He was a Gamaliel High School Class of 1952 Graduate, and of Western Kentucky State College where he later completed his Masters in Arts, and Rank I, and proudly served in the United States Air Force.  He married Joyce Ann (Hood) Cornwell on June 4, 1970. H B attended Calvary Baptist Church in Glasgow and was a member of Gamaliel Baptist Church and a Life-Long Dairy Farmer. He retired from the Monroe County Board of Education in 1986. He is survived by two daughters, Carla Hale, Louann (Brian) Fultz, both of Glasgow; one sister, Ruth Crowe, of Tompkinsville; three Grandchildren, Courtney Hale, Camryn Hale, and Katherine Fultz, all of Glasgow; a special caregiver, Kylee Pierce, of Glasgow. In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett Cornwell and Calvin Goad; one sister, Irene Holcomb. A drive-thru visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Attendees are asked to remain inside their vehicle at all times. Attendees will be given a chance to sign the register book, receive a memorial folder, and show their support and love to the family of Mr. Cornwell. A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Anderson-Bartley Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, Kentucky with a private burial to follow in the Beautiful Home Cemetery. Bro. Randy Shaw will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or St. Jude’s Children Hospital and can be made at the funeral home.
