Obituary Gordon "Woody" Wood, 73, of Tompkinsville, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville. He was born September 13, 1941 in Monroe County, KY to the late Barlow Wood and Verna Crowe Wood. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a US Army Veteran. He was united in marriage on November 19, 1980 to the former Margie Mesker. He is survived by his wife: Margie Mesker Wood of Tompkinsville, two sons: Wade Wood and wife Pinky of Gamaliel, Johnny Wood of Glasgow, step son: Randy Birge and wife Amanda of Hestand, one brother: Delmar Dee Wood of Tompkinsville, one sister: Betty Murley of Tompkinsville and four grandchildren: Dylan Wood, Makayla Birge, Megan Wood and Aleda Birge. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Feb. 8 at 1:30 PM at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel with burial to follow in the Gamaliel Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 3:00 PM on Saturday and after 8:00 AM on Sunday at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel.
