Freida Carol Nelson

Mrs. Freida “Carol” Nelson, age 77, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Signature Healthcare of Monroe.  She was born in Barren County, Kentucky on July 5, 1945, a daughter of the late Joseph Carry and Mary Agnes (Cross) Walker.  Carol was raised up on the farm where she worked alongside her late husband James C. Jackson, and in her later years, she worked in the Barbecue Restaurant Business. She married James “Jim” Nelson on September 9, 1995. Carol was a Member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Tompkinsville.   She never met a stranger, and could always brighten anyone’s day with that little grin.  Carol loved to cook and listen to music.  She enjoyed dancing, thrifting through yard sales, and always looked forward to watching Christmas movies on The Hallmark Channel.     

In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by her children; James Darrell Jackson and his wife Sherrye, Judy Ann Jackson McIntyre, Jennifer Carol Rich, and James Alan Jackson, a special daughter; Pam Bartley and husband Ricky, all of Tompkinsville.  Two sisters; Linda Trivett and husband Timmy, Margie Webb and husband Gary, and one brother; Raymond Walker and wife Lou, and eight grandchildren; Timmy Jackson, Lisa Jackson, Lesley Jackson, Hannah Froust (Tyler), Mary Jackson, Ashley Poindexter (William), Bobby McIntyre, and Cody McIntyre, along with seventeen great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to her parents, and husband James C. Jackson, she was preceded in death by three brothers; Ronnie, Norman, and Joe Walker.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2022, at Christ The King Catholic Church in Tompkinsville, with Father Joseph officiating.  Burial will be in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 28, 2022, from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.  There will be no visitation prior to Mass on Monday.
