Eunice Strausburg Bewley

Obituary Eunice Strausburg Bewley, age 92, passed away peacefully at her Allen County home Sat. March 28, 2015 where she was born and raised. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 21, 1922 in Allen Co. KY to the late Shepard Strausburg and Cynthia Etta Whitlow Strausburg. Eunice graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1942. She married Ralston Whitney Bewley on June 8, 1946, who preceded her in death January 17, 2014. She attended Western Kentucky University on Saturdays to obtain a Bachelors Degree. She began her teaching career at Durham Springs School followed by Maysville School. She was teaching all eight grades at Chestnut Point School when the one room schools were closed. She taught three years at Scottsville Elementary School and then moved to the newly built Allen County Elementary where she taught fifteen years, making a total of thirty six years in the education field. She was members of the Jolly Homemakers, Allen Co. Retired Teachers Society, as well as the Allen Co. Historical Society. She belonged to Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, church pianist, and church secretary for 50 years. She is survived by One daughter Diane Bewley Fisher and Husband Kenneth of Scottsville, KY.Granddaughter - Lisa Gentry and Husband Jeff of Lafayette, TN.Two Great Grandchildren - Judi Beth & Eric Gentry of Lafayette.A host of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by two sisters Francis Morgan and Anna Oliver. Visitation will be held after 12:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 29, 2015, and after 7:30 A.M. Monday, March 30, 2015 until time of funeral. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Strode Funeral Home Scottsville Chapel with Burial to follow in the Crescent Hill Cemetery in Scottsville, KY.
