Ernest Terry Hale

Mr. Ernest Terry “Ernie” Hale, age 86, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Celina Health & Rehabilitation Center.  Ernie was born on September 15, 1936, the son of the late Bob and Allene (Copass) Hale. He was a 1954 graduate of Hermitage Springs High School.  Following graduation, he worked in a furniture factory in Louisville, and construction work in Indianapolis.  Ernie returned to Red Hill in the fall of 1959.  Over the years, he worked in garment factories including Red Kap, Kentucky Apparel, Stitches, and Osh Kosh. 

On November 19, 1960, Ernest married Beatrice Belcher in Tompkinsville.  Ernest received his best birthday gift on September 15, 1964, when his son Bryan was born.  Ernie enjoyed playing Rolley Hole marbles, and had quite the luck with horseshoes as well, he was known for his unique shooting skills and putting a twist on his marbles.

Ernest is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Beatrice, his son Bryan Hale and wife Greta, of Tompkinsville, and a brother, Winston Hale. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

In addition to his parents, Bob and Allene Hale, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Linda Hale.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in The Harlan’s Crossroads Cemetery.  John Osgotharp will officiate the service.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m. until time for services at 1:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harlan’s Crossroads Cemetery in honor of Ernie.
