Obituary Erlene Jones Melhiser, 88, formerly of Owensboro, KY,passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, TN She was born July 21, 1925 in Muhlenberg County, KY to the late Roy Jones and Charity Floyd Richman Jones. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, a homemaker and retired cook for Philpot School in Owensboro. She was united in marriage in 1954 to Archie Melhiser who preceded her in death on May 30, 2008. She is survived by two daughters: Sherree Eubank and Johnny of Gamaliel, Karen Carter and Robert of Owensboro, two sisters: Hilda Rice of Greenville, KY andBetty Johnson of Hopkinsville, KY, 6 grandchildren Robert Justin Carter and Lindsay, Jill Nichole Carter Pendergraft and Brannon, Charity Joy Carter, Sarah Elizabeth Eubank Jones and Bart, Joshua Edward Eubank, Christy Denise Eubank, 4 great grandchildren: Slaton Ross Carter, Robert Cates Carter, Caroline Belle Pendergraft and Ty Wilson Jones. In addition t her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers: Theodore Jones, Lester Rollo Jones, Walton Jones, three sisters: Audrey Odell Ellsworth, Nellie Hope, Virginia Jones and 1 grandson: John David Eubank. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 28 at 2:00 PM at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro with burial to follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation will be after 2:00 PM on Thursday, Dec. 26 at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel and Friday Dec. 27 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and after10:00 AM on Saturday until time of service at James H.
