Obituary Elsie Smith, 92, of Tompkinsville, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Cookeville, TN.She was born August 22nd, 1923 in Owsley County, KY to the late Judge Tilmon J. Green and Eva (Amis) Green. She was united in marriage to the late Herman D. "Jaggs" Smith in January of 1942.She was retired, having worked several jobs in her life including City Clerk of Tompkinsville, Assistant County Court Clerk, clerk for the sheriff's office, clerk for County Judge and manager of the Ivy Cottage. She was an avid homemaker and of the Methodist faith. She is survived by two sons, Tim L. Smith and wife Janice of Cookeville, TN and John Michael Smith and wife Teresa of Clarksville, TN, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren also survive.In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Eugene Smith, one brother: Carl Green, three sisters: Alpha Davis, Bessie Morgan, and Oma Gabbard.Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 28 at 11:00 AM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Monroe County.Visitation will be after 4:00 PM on Wednesday and after 7:30 AM on Thursday at Strode Funeral in Tompkinsville.Memorials are suggested to the Bethlehem Cemetery.
