Obituary
Delmar “Dee” Bate Wood,85, of Monroe County, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at Monroe County Medical Center. He was born on December 29, 1934, the son of the late Barlow Bate and Vernie (Crowe) Wood. He married the late Arnella Hale on December 1, 1956. Delmer retired from Crowe’s General Store and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by one son, Tony (Shannon)Wood; two daughters, Connie (Stanley)Coffelt, and Robbie Hughes, all of Tompkinsville; 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and Cozie Wood; four sisters, Betty Murley, Mable Denhart, Rachel Smith and Jewell Turner.
A drive-thru visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Attendees are asked to remain inside their vehicle at all times. Attendees will be given a chance to sign the register book, receive a memorial folder, and show their support and love to the family of Mr. Wood.
A private funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2020, at Anderson-Bartley Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, Kentucky with a private burial to follow in the Beautiful Home Cemetery. Timmy Eaton will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Beautiful Home Cemetery and can be made at the funeral home.
