Dr. David Wayne Baston

Dr. David Wayne Baston, age 67, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at his home. Doc was born in Georgetown, Kentucky on October 16, 1956, a son of the late John William and Sarah (Whitney) Baston. He was a 1974 graduate of Georgetown High School, a University of Kentucky Graduate of 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction, and went on to Auburn University to obtain his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree. Doc was a proud Kentucky Colonel and served alongside Dr. Cole at Tri-County Veterinary Services for nearly Forty years. He had a love for all animals, his community, and his trade, but an even greater love for his family. 

He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Tamara (Tooley) Baston, his three children; Alexandra Baston Hawkins and husband Rusty, John Neal and Allison Pare Baston, Trey William and Jessica Vernon Baston, all of Tompkinsville. Six Grandchildren, Reid, Raylan, Alena, Emory Baston, Aidan, and Eleanor Hawkins, one sister, Beth Baston Perkins, and a special cousin, Hance Price also survive. 

In addition to his parents, John William and Sarah Whitney Baston, he was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Steve Perkins. 

Funeral Services for Dr. Baston will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with interment to follow in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Bro. Darrick Proffitt and Corey Meadows will officiate the services. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. until the service time at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dr. David Wayne Baston Memorial Scholarship Fund or Kosair Children’s Hospital in memory of Dr. Baston.
