Carrell Norris Clements

Mr. Carrell Clements, 86, of The Clementsville Community of Clay County, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Monroe County Medical Center. He was born in the Clementsville Community on August, 8th 1937 the son of the late CW and Nova (Ritter) Clements.  He was a 1954 graduate of Hermitage Springs High School, and was Valedictorian of his class.  Shortly after, he took the Civil Service Exam, and scored the highest score, and was offered a job as a Lock Operator with the TVA, but declined to become a lifelong cattle and tobacco farmer in Clay County to be close to their families. He married Mary Lou Dixon on January 10, 1959. Carrell was named Clay County Soil Conservation Farmer of the year, he served on the Clay County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, and served on the Clay County Election Commission to assist with setting up voting precincts and troubleshooting the voting machines.  He was a member of Clementsville Church of Christ.

He is survived by one son; Dr. Barton Clements and wife Lee of Livingston, Tennessee, two grandchildren; Alyssa Clements and husband Adam Boucher, of Clementsville, and Dr. Jared Clements of Jacksonville, Florida. One great-grandson, Amos Boucher, one brother, Clark Gable Clements, three sisters-in-law, Bertie Sue Fraley and husband Tony, Mary Pearl Clements, and Mary Doyle Clements along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Dixon Clements, one sister, Mary Ruth Tudor and husband Kansel, Four brothers; C.W. Jr., Carson McCarthy, Calvin Coolidge, and Connie Mack Clements, and one sister-in-law, Colleen York and her husband Mitchell D. “Doug”.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Clementsville Cemetery. Michael Miller will be officiating the service. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday morning after 8:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hermitage Springs School Carrell Clements Memorial Fund.

Pallbearers: Roger Tudor, Galen Clements, Chandler Clements, Jeff Clements, Larry Clements, Adam Boucher, and James Cherry.

Honorary Pallbearers: Clark G. Clements and Mickey Clements Sr.
