Buell Abney, 86, of Tompkinsville, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at NHC in Glasgow.He was born August 4, 1928 in Estelle County, KY to the late Earl Abney and Nellie Rogers Abney. He was a US Army Korean Veteran, a retired oil driller and leather craftsman and a member of the Church of Christ. He was united in marriage to the former Lucille Rhoton Dickerson.He is survived by his wife Lucille Rhoton Abney of Tompkinsville, two step sons: Rodney Dickerson of Lexington, KY, Michael Dickerson of Clay City, KY,two step daughters: Shelia Carter and Teresa Netherton of Tompkinsville,three brothers: Edward Abney and Howard Abney both of IL, Gene Abney of Estelle County, KY, two sisters: Wanda Tuttle of Estill County, KY andVivian Rogers of Lebanon, KY.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step son: Jerry Lynn Dickerson, two brothers: Junior and George Earl Abney, two sisters: Wandella Wasson and Zelma Abney.Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 14 at 2:00 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday and after 7:30 AM on Tuesday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
