Mr. Brian Caney Mayes, age 50, of Moss, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at his home. Brian was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 13, 1973, a son of the late Charles Caney Mayes and Martha Faye Wheeler. He attended and graduated from Cascade High School in Clayton, Indiana. He was a heavy equipment operator and owned a landscaping business. Brian had an amazing personality, and a love for singing, and dancing, above all, he loved Life and spending time with and entertaining his family.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Faye Shirely, of Moss, Tennessee; one son, Bryson Chaney Mayes and wife Kiley of Edmonton, Kentucky, a daughter; Briley Mayes of Glasgow, And one grandson, Koulter Troutt. Three Sisters; Angela Mayes of Tompkinsville, Amanda Hale and husband Jason, and Ashley Mayes, both of Moss, Tennessee, one brother, Jason Mayes and wife Angel of Fort Worth, Texas, special Aunt and Uncle, Chuck and Gail Pelley of Clayton, Indiana, along with several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Caney Mayes, one brother, Bradley Steven Wheeler, and his step-father, Douglas Andrew Shirely.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with cremation to follow.
The family will receive friends on Sunday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
