Mrs. Brenda Bernice (Bartley) Harlan, age 80, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Monroe County Medical Center surrounded by her family. Brenda was born in Tompkinsville, on May 12, 1944, to the late Elner Bartley and Lura May (Geralds) Bartley. Brenda worked for Key Work Clothes, and spent the rest of her time raising her four children. She was a member of the Mt. Gilead Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Veachel Marrs Harlan, four sons; Tony Harlan and wife Dana of Tompkinsville, Chris Harlan and wife Susie of Summer Shade, Brad Harlan and wife Angie of Tompkinsville, and Jason Harlan and Emily of Tompkinsville. One sister, Linda Holt of Indianapolis, Indiana, six grandchildren; Daniel Harlan and wife Krista, Cecilee Ennis and husband Travis, Josh Harlan and wife Megan, Justin Harlan and wife Kelsey, Hannah Harlan, and Hollie Harlan, nine great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Gene Bartley and a sister, Pansy Gillenwater.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Mt. Gilead Church of Christ, with burial to follow in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Tim McHenry and Johnny Kelton will be officiating the service.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and again on Tuesday morning after 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Gilead Church of Christ.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Lodge and the Stateline Christian Camp in honor of Brenda. Those may be made at the funeral home.
