Bernard Hagan Pickerel

Obituary Bernard Hagan Pickerel, 92, of Tompkinsville, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville. He was born April 15, 1922 in Monroe County, KY to the late C.W. Pickerel and Ammie Hagan Pickerel. He was a retired inspector for the State Highway Department, a member of Tompkinsville First Baptist Church, former owner of Picks Radio and TV service, founder of Monroe County Memorial Lawn and Mausoleum, a WWII Army Veteran, a member of Tompkinsville Masonic Lodge 753, 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. He was united in marriage on September 5, 1955 to the former Joann Bush. He is survived by his wife: Joann Bush Pickerel, one daughter: Suzanne Conkin ,one sister: Marcella Headrick all of Tompkinsville, two grandchildren: Allyson Dix of Glasgow and Phoebe Bartlett of Louisville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter: Cynthia Bartlett, three brothers: Morris, Royce and Horace Pickerel, four sisters: Clarice Page, Gladys Carter, Mayme Knapper and Joyce Kirkland. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 28 at 1:00 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Military rites will be performed at graveside by DAV Chapel 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 2:00 PM on Friday and after 7:30 AM on Saturday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Masonic services will conducted Friday night at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Tompkinsville First Baptist Church.
