Barbara Jean Ryherd

Obituary Barbara Jean Simmons Ryherd, 66, of Gamaliel passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, IN. She was born January 21, 1947 in Monroe County KY, to the late Mitchell Simmons and Ora Elizabeth Burton Simmons. She was a retired factory worker from Dana Corporation, homemaker and a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church. She was united in marriage on February 3, 1981 to Carlos "Carlie" Ryherd who preceded her in death on January 13, 2003. She is survived by two sons: Scott Smith and wife Paula of Alvaton, K, Tony Ryherd of Bowling Green, one daughter: Tina Beth Jewell and husband Jeff of Lucas, three brothers: Steve Simmons of Mt. Hermon, Charles Simmons of Freedom, KY, Kenny Simmons of Michigan, one sister: Lesia Sedoris of Ohio and4 grandchildren Matt Smith, Jessica Smith, Jordan Jewell and Jenna Jewell. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers: Roger Dale Simmons and Danny Mitchell Simmons. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, January 23 at 10:00 AM at Monroe County Memorial Lawn with burial to follow. Visitation will be after 3:00 PM on Wednesday at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel. Memorials are suggested to the Turner Cemetery.
