Alfred F. Turner

Mr. Alfred F. Turner, age 83, of Gamaliel, Kentucky passed away with his loving family at his side on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Tristar Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Alfred was born in Jeffrey, Kentucky on April 30, 1940 the son of the late Clyde and Ova (Cross) Turner. Alfred was Co-Owner of Stitches, Inc. a business started in Gamaliel in 1977, and he continued with the day-to-day operations until his passing. Alfred enjoyed anything that involved spending time with his family, He also enjoyed spending time on his farm, most of all he enjoyed telling you about his grandchildren.  He could talk about them for days.  He was a 1961 graduate of Tompkinsville High School, where he served as President of the FFA, and was a football player for the Tompkinsville Bears. Alfred earned his Fifty-year membership pin in 2020 from The Ham-Henderson Masonic Lodge # 515.   

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Barbara (Netherton) Turner, one daughter, Pam Harlin and husband John, one son, Bradley Alfred Turner and wife Tara, all of Gamaliel. Seven Grandchildren. Lauren Robinson and husband Chris, Reagan, Grace and Ansley Ova Turner, Meg, Cally Sue, and John Owen Harlin, one great-grandchild, Saylor Elizabeth Robinson; one brother, Richard Turner and wife Brenda, and five sisters; Margaret Geralds, Cecile Boyles, Dixie Abbitt, Carol Johnson and husband Glenn, and Kay Hutchison and husband Ray also survives. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Molly Denise Harlin, one brother, Travis Turner, and brothers-in-law; Jimmy Geralds, Milton “Burr” Boyles, and Ronnie Abbitt. 

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel, with Bro. Tim Eaton, Bro. Lonnie Meador, and Bro. Donald Taylor officiating the services. Interment will follow in Gamaliel Cemetery. 

Masonic Rites will be performed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2024. 

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Molly Harlin Scholarship Fund, or Gamaliel Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 21, 2024 after 11:00 a.m. at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel, and again on Monday after 8:00 a.m. until the service time.
